If you are not familiar with BLUE H.E.L.P. I encourage you to visit their website at www.bluehelp.org, their mission (copied from their website):
"It is the mission of Blue H.E.L.P. to reduce mental health stigma through education, advocate for benefits for those suffering from post-traumatic stress, acknowledge the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers we lost to suicide, assist officers in their search for healing, and to bring awareness to suicide and mental health issues."
As of today we have had 72 verified suicides by law enforcement officers in the United States. While we struggle to get a handle on this epidemic, we need to make sure that we honor their service, look beyond how they died, and break away from the stigma.
I know how hard it is to loose friends to suicide, and I may never know why, but one thing I do know for sure is that I will always honor and celebrate their lives every moment I can.
